Wing Hockey

On 19th October 2014, 14 cadets from squadrons around Dorset and Wiltshire joined together to compete in the Inter-Wing senior hockey tournament, against the rest of the wings in our region. It was a chilly, and typical- October day, nonetheless, the girls remained positive in their attitudes and excited about the potential of the day ahead.
We played the first match against Hampshire & Isle of Wight wing, drawing 0-0. After a break of about 45 minutes, we were back on to play against Plymouth & Cornwall- unfortunately this time we lost 1-0. Next was Devon & Somerset, again we lost 1-0, followed by Thames Valley, with a score of 0-0, and finally Bristol and Gloucestershire. We finished the day with a score of 0-0, and all the girls were happy with how well we played in the final match.
As a result of 3 draws and 2 loses, overall, Dorset & Wiltshire Wing placed 6th in the competition; however, 3 of our players were selected to represent the South West Region at the Inter-Region tournament in just over a month time. It was a fun day, and provided everyone with opportunity to socialise and catch up with friends from the other wing. Well done to all those who were selected from our wing to represent region and a massive thank you to everyone who played in the hockey and created such a fabulous and lovely team to be a part of.
