Air Marshal Sir Roger Austin recently joined staff and cadets at Boscombe Down to celebrate the award of the Sir Roger Austin Sword to Dorset Wilts Wing in recognition of being the most-improved Wing in the country at DofE. During the past year, a total of 63 awards were gained at Bronze, Silver and Gold levels. The Gold Awards being achieved by F/Sgt Rachel Brown (7 OS Jersey), CWO Alec Cottrell and Sgt Lizzie Hole (both 2185 Wareham).
A fine achievement and well-deserved recognition for all of those cadets and staff involved. A special mention must go to Flt Lt Helene Woodham from 633 (West Swindon) Squadron, who is also the Deputy Wing DofE Officer, and Flt Lt Mary Brennan of 2185 (Wareham Squadron), both of whom have been the mainstays for the Award within the Wing for a number of years.
“We hope that the Wing can further improve on this total this coming year and hit a target of a further 75 Awards to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the Corps” said Flt Lt Gary Lewry, Dorset/Wilts DofE Officer.
